Far Cry 2 video combines intro and developer commentary

Far Cry has always been known for its cutting-edge visuals and wide-open levels. If you were disappointed to hear that Crytek, the game’s original developer, won’t be around for the sequel, you’d be happy to know that Far Cry 2 is looking very promising indeed.

Doom 4 begins production, says id Software

As you may have noticed, I’ve been playing Grand Theft Auto IV for weeks, so I decided to get some sun, go out of the house, and actually read some news. Of all that I‘ve read, the most surprising was the announcement made by id Software that they’ve began production of Doom 4 as of […]

The Haze demo really does exist

It’s confirmed. The Haze demo does exist. The latest PlayStation Store update says so, at least. According to the announcement, the demo lets you play the beginning of the Haze campaign in single player or coop mode. Be ready to put your download in the background because the demo is a hefty 1.43GB.
I have a […]

Haze four-player coop demo coming today?

According to CVG, Sony will launch a Haze demo on PSN later today. The big question: is this four-player coop demo for real? Last time we heard of such news rumors, it was the Spanish PS3 website that supposedly showed the announcement. Well, this tale was unceremoniously quashed thanks to Babel Fish.
Until I see with […]

Collector’s edition for Fallout 3 announced

Fallout fans are a critical lot, but you can’t blame them. Despite developer Bethesda Softworks’s pedigree in making awe-inspiring RPGs, there are still fans that remain on the fence when it comes to Fallout 3. Can you imagine turning a beloved isometric-view RPG into an FPS? I still can’t either.
When news of a collector’s edition […]

Hands on: Condemned 2 demo is short and sweet

I’ve finally downloaded and played the Condemned 2: Bloodshot demo from PSN. I also queued up the Turok demo since I’ve never tried it either. By the time I’ve blown through the Condemned 2 demo, the Turok download was still stuck at 37% and it was already growing dark.
I guess that meant people were starting […]

The Darkness is a ghost town at PSN

I’ve raved about The Darkness long enough. While the Starbreeze-developed FPS has an excellent story mode, its multiplayer leaves a lot to be desired. I can’t speak for Xbox Live since I don’t own a 360, but I can truly say that The Darkness is a ghost town at PSN.
Choose any multiplayer mode the game […]

Haze video preview shows compelling features

Frankly, I’ve always been skeptical of Haze, the PS3 exclusive being developed by Free Radical Design because it looked like a poor man’s version of Crysis when facing the game’s vegetation. I felt that there wasn’t any major feature that compelled me to get the upcoming FPS when it comes out next month. At least […]

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. prequel shipping in Q3 2008

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is an FPS/RPG hybrid that took six years in the making. It’s not quite as good Half-Life 2, which also took around the same time to develop, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is obviously not as bad as Turning Point: Fall of Liberty.
Actually, I find Shadow of Chernobyl quite entertaining, so I’m pleased to hear […]

Turok: How not to create an FPS

I’ve never played the new Turok, but at some point during its development, I thought the FPS showed promise. At least until the bad reviews came out. Tired of bad shooter conventions, Yahtzee decided to make a tutorial on how not to make an FPS using Turok as his model.

All in all, very good points. […]

Haze screenplay is over 1K pages in length

Haze writer Rob Yescombe shares that he aims to “convince everyone that Haze is awesome.” At least, that’s what the marketing slave’s writer’s do-list says. As you’d expect, Yescombe has a lot of things to say about Haze, the PS3-exclusive FPS being developed by Free Radical Design. You can watch all of it in this […]
