Book Review: Rainbow Six novel combines Tom Clancy’s best and worst

Tom Clancy sure knows how to drive me bananas. At his best, Clancy weaves compelling yarn that can hook readers until there are no pages left to flip. At his worst, Clancy puts me to sleep with all the digressions that he probably considers as “details,” but end up having no bearing on the overall […]

Resistance 2 boss may be one of the biggest there is

The new Resistance 2 gameplay video from GameVideos’ E3 coverage gives new meaning to the term “stage boss.” It’s is one of the biggest enemies I’ve ever seen, rivaling even those of Painkiller’s (see image).
According to the some details leaked online, the biggest boss in Resistance 2 is about 300 feet tall. The game is […]

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky almost looks real

You gotta love your PC-exclusive FPS. Aside from superior controls, longevity, and gameplay, the graphics are just topnotch. From the looks of things (pun intended), S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky surpasses the sweet visuals of its predecessor. Want proof? Just watch the video above for a comparison.

Watch the new Resistance 2 trailer while you still can

There’s a new Resistance 2 trailer available on YouTube, but what makes this one special is that it might not be available really soon. According to PS3 Fanboy, the video was originally found on Eurogamer TV but wasn’t meant to be leaked online. Thus, you should enjoy the clip while it’s still there.

FragFX firmware is a pain to update

I’m terrible at shooters when using two analog sticks. This is why I resort to using the FragFX, a special PlayStation 3 controller that lets me play console FPSes with mouse-like precision. In theory, it’s supposed to be great. Application however, is another story.
My FragFX never really gave me that PC shooter feel. Granted that […]

Expectations for Duke Nukem Forever

So you’ve now seen Duke Nukem Forever in action. Sure, the camera was shaking when Jace Hall gave us a peek, but I’m sure you all had your own impressions regarding the shooter. Let me ask you this:
In this age of complex physics engines, multiplayer, “smarter” AI, real-time shadows, and other standard FPS features, what […]

GTA IV and FragFX don’t mix

Using the FragFX on shooters is great. It gives the player PC-like controls and provide pinpoint accuracy when shooting. Given its benefits, I’ve decided to try playing Grand Theft Auto IV using the FragFX. What could go wrong? GTA IV requires a lot of shooting, so the optimist in me was stoked.
Let me tell you, […]

Tagged! When do I get to eat?

I was tagged last week by Aiza, our “hardcore” casual gamer (is there such a thing?) at Gamerlite. It took me almost 10 days to reply because traffic was such a bitch over at Liberty City. It’s refreshing to be on the receiving end of a meme this time because I remember being the instigator […]

GTA IV How To’s: The Snow Storm

Accomplishing The Snow Storm mission in Grand Theft Auto IV isn’t easy. It’s loaded with armed crack dealers, a persistent SWAT team, a drawn-out and dangerous car chase, a bag full of illegal drugs, and a few nasty surprises along the way.
There’s always a good chance one won’t survive the mission, so I’ve decided to […]

Living the American Dream in GTA IV is about riding cabs ‘cause you can

I’ve just hit the jackpot in Grand Theft Auto IV, and it’s only going to get even better. Remember when Rockstar representatives said that the game is a progression of “rags to slightly-better rags”? I think the publisher’s powers-that-be should sack these reps because they don’t really know what they’re talking about.
At my current playthrough, […]
