Far Cry 2 video combines intro and developer commentary
Far Cry has always been known for its cutting-edge visuals and wide-open levels. If you were disappointed to hear that Crytek, the game’s original developer, won’t be around for the sequel, you’d be happy to know that Far Cry 2 is looking very promising indeed.
Ubisoft Montreal’s creation is shaping up to be something like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., which featured a sprawling gaming environment that the player can freely roam. The original Far Cry may offer a similar sense of freedom, but the scale is much grander this time around.
Don’t forget the cool flamethrower, which lets you burn everything in sight.
It was reported that this sequel would be rid of the feral strength and the Trigen creatures. Why? Ubisoft made a research on what made Far Cry “cool” and discovered that it was the realistic parts at the beginning of the game (i.e. when players raided military camps and using a variety of strategies to survive) that consumers liked most.
However, the question we’ve previously raised is begging to be asked again: what is Far Cry without Trigens or mutants? The “Far Cry” title is significant in the original game because the weird experiments were labeled “Project Far Cry.” Why is Far Cry 2 using the Far Cry moniker if it won’t have anything to do with the weird science experiments?
