If you think gamers are socially inept, and that they don’t mingle with the opposite gender even if they tried, think again. According to the official Xbox website, a couple met while playing Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Lockdown.
“I just thought you might be interested to know that Mike and I met playing Tom Clancy’s Rainbow […]

I like watching video reviews made by Ben Croshaw because it teaches me to be unflinchingly cynical when it comes to games. See how the British-born author deconstructs Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.
Yes, I do like Uncharted for its shooting. There are no massive guns here, though I do find the action satisfying. But to say that […]

If you know your shooter history, then you’re aware that the Unreal Engine has always been primarily for the PC. When Tim Sweeney, the creator and founder of Epic Games, suddenly says otherwise, then you just might see hell freezing over.
That’s right; the next edition of Unreal Engine (version 4 if you’re keeping count) is […]

I never saw this coming. Sure, the Bourne film trilogy may have been screaming “video game adaptation,” but since there was no installment for 2002’s The Bourne Identity, I threw that mental note out the window. Then this trailer shows up.
Frankly, this trend towards “cover dynamics” being placed in third-person every shooter is […]

I love the games in the Xbox 360. What’s not to love? You’ve got the best shooters like Bioshock, Gears of War, Halo 3 (despite my dislike of the previous installations, I actually like the latest one), The Orange Box, GRAW2, and I’m not even talking about the other genres yet.
What I don’t like about […]

News has just come out that the PlayStation 3 version of BlackSite (aka BlackSite: Area 51) is shipping to Europe. If you haven’t heard of BlackSite, then it’s about time you get out of that monastery for some sunlight.
Reception for BlackSite was so bad that even one of its own developers said “the project was […]

You know what game I think has potential? One that has oomph and doesn’t seem generic like Haze? Legendary: The Box, that’s what. Sure, the wonky title could use a little work, but seeing the game in action certainly shows that it has potential.

It’s been a while since we last saw anything about Huxley. IGN recently came out with a verbose preview, but it’s the video that came with the article that got my attention.
Strangely, this Huxley footage doesn’t remind me of Unreal Tournament 3 at all, unlike what I formerly perceived. I was also surprised to see […]

I finished Call of Duty 4 last weekend. I never thought I’d be able to since I utterly suck in using analog sticks, but I did. Did I find it easy? Heavens no. How then was a staunch PC gamer able to finish one of the best shooters of 2007 on a console?
At first, I […]

Erin over at Play-Girlz asked me “what makes Riddick so atypical”? Like I’ve said, it’s not quite an FPS and it’s not your usual movie-to-game garbage. Cough *Spider-Man* cough.
You see, calling Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay an FPS wouldn’t be fair. As we know, first-person shooters are quite an unsophisticated bunch. You point […]
