Staunch PC shooter fan reluctantly gets better in using analog sticks

I finished Call of Duty 4 last weekend. I never thought I’d be able to since I utterly suck in using analog sticks, but I did. Did I find it easy? Heavens no. How then was a staunch PC gamer able to finish one of the best shooters of 2007 on a console?
At first, I told myself I had no idea.
Then I started replaying Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune in the highest difficulty mode. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as hard as I imagined it to be. The shooting parts, at least.
I began to notice that the time it took me to shoot goons was a lot shorter than when I first played Uncharted. No, I didn’t memorize when, where, and how many bad guys came out to shoot me since I only finished Uncharted once (at easy difficulty).
Then it struck me: I was actually getting better in using these infernal sticks.
Still, nothing would ever replace the keyboard and mouse control scheme in my book. I’m currently playing through Call of Duty 4 at the normal difficulty and promised that I won’t dare fight other people online until I get through the highest difficulty.
Aside from the fact that I would be fighting human opponents, I heard that the FragFX population at Call of Duty 4’s multiplayer is growing. I am so screwed.
