Dark Sector video review is out

I was feeling rather lazy to read the numerous Dark Sector reviews. Good thing GameTrailer’s video review is pretty much spot on.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. prequel shipping in Q3 2008

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is an FPS/RPG hybrid that took six years in the making. It’s not quite as good Half-Life 2, which also took around the same time to develop, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is obviously not as bad as Turning Point: Fall of Liberty.
Actually, I find Shadow of Chernobyl quite entertaining, so I’m pleased to hear […]

Oddities: Music video consists entirely of CoD4 gunshots

Remember those Halo 3 suicide videos? Do you recall how insanely elaborate they were? I think I may have just found the clip that surpasses those videos in terms of intricacy. Below is a music video made up entirely of Call of Duty 4 gunfire.

Who made the music video? Some fellow who calls himself Serpento. […]

Gears of War 2 looks even better than the original

So you don’t have a 360. That’s too bad because Gears of War is going to have a sequel. We’ve shown you a teaser recently announcing this, but what you haven’t seen is how sweet part two is going to look. Good news: there’s a tech demo available, and you can watch it here:

CoD4 adventures: Knifing n00bs is fun (for non-n00bs)

I finally had the nerve to play Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat online today (not before upgrading my PS3’s firmware to 2.20). Sadly, my first foray wasn’t very encouraging. To make the long story short, I never managed to take anyone down. I don’t even know if I was able to land a single […]

Not-so-new Halo 3 map pack is available for free download

Do any of you spend for downloadable map packs? There’s the “Legendary” map pack for Halo 3 coming out in a couple of weeks but it would cost you 800 points. This is equivalent to $10 if you live in the U.S., but if you’re based someplace else, you can consult this table for the […]

Turok: How not to create an FPS

I’ve never played the new Turok, but at some point during its development, I thought the FPS showed promise. At least until the bad reviews came out. Tired of bad shooter conventions, Yahtzee decided to make a tutorial on how not to make an FPS using Turok as his model.

All in all, very good points. […]

Gears of War annoyances #5: Armed conflict is hell, but so are choppy visuals

So my PC isn’t exactly cutting edge. I can accept that. It’s why I love tweaking so much. But when tweaking my settings doesn’t bear fruit no matter what combination I do, then I know I’m screwed.
This is one of my new problems in the “improved” Gears of War for the PC. Whether I tune […]

Watch the Condemned 2 video review

Are you too lazy to read the numerous analyses for Condemned 2: Bloodshot? Then watch GameTrailer’s video review.

Others may consider Condemned 2 as a good purchase, but I’m not like the others. I’m cheap. Definitely a rental for me. What sold me to the game’s multiplayer is the idea of an all-melee deathmatch. […]

New Gears of War update fixes crashing problem

So I finally installed Gears of War on my PC (for the umpteenth time). Now why would I want to do a thing like that when the game keeps crashing? Because there was an update released, and who knows? It just might get me past the point where the game always fails.
FYI, I’ve never managed […]

Haze screenplay is over 1K pages in length

Haze writer Rob Yescombe shares that he aims to “convince everyone that Haze is awesome.” At least, that’s what the marketing slave’s writer’s do-list says. As you’d expect, Yescombe has a lot of things to say about Haze, the PS3-exclusive FPS being developed by Free Radical Design. You can watch all of it in this […]
