Shit-detector alarm: MMOFPS took 1½ years to develop

According to Ernest Hemingway, “the most essential gift for a good writer is a built-in, shockproof shit detector.” Scanning the latest PR always causes my alarm to go off, so I might as well make good use of it. Here’s a good one:
Micro Forté, an Australian developer of MMOs, is the developer contracted by the London-based Kwari for the development of online-FPS Kwari.
Never heard of Micro Forté? Then maybe some of their games would help re-jog your memory: Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, Hot Wheels Bash Arena, and the canceled MMO Citizen Zero.
Kwari (the FPS) has been developed out of Micro Forté’s Canberra studio since mid 2006, and is being built on BigWorld’s technology suite. The game is slated for release later this year.
Wait a minute—the MMO took only a year and a half to develop? The press release boasts that the short development time is attributed to this “BigWorld” technology, but you know what? This same technology was used in Citizen Zero. Micro Forté never did mention that Citizen Zero took six years in development before it was canned.
So what should we expect from Kwari? Graphics that scream 2001, at best.
