Gears of War adds new multiplayer achievements
Hot off the news grill: Gears of War, the Xbox 360 title that always brings a tear to my eye, just released eight new achievements for the Annex game mode and the Hidden Fronts multiplayer map pack on Xbox Live.
The Annex game mode was a recent update to Gears, and it added new depth to an already-legendary shooter. Life before Annex was bliss, but there were “only” three multiplayer types (Warzone, Execution, and Assassination).
In addition to adding new achievements, which are worth a total of 250 points, Epic said it improved the Roadie Run controls to reduce getting snagged for cover (concrete slabs are my best friends). The update is intended to help squash multiplayer exploits and provide general housekeeping.
Take that, cheating smacktards.
Annex is available for free and Hidden Fronts is available on the XBL Marketplace for 800 Microsoft points. The four multiplayer maps of Hidden Fronts will be made available at no cost over XBL on September 3rd.
If you’re a cheapskate like me, then you’ve marked that day on your calendar.
