New Bioshock trailer shows us more gameplay, less AI
We’re just a couple of months away before Bioshock hits store shelves. To crank up the anticipation several more notches, Irrational has given us a hefty 7-minute trailer showing more of the shooter/RPG’s gameplay.
The game simply looks fantastic, but it’s probably going to punish my modest PC.
We’re a bit concerned about the AI though. Denizens of Rapture behave like your standard FPS fodder (i.e. they take a swing even if you’re at a considerable distance, they don’t dodge your attacks, etc.) and this disturbs us more than the Little Sisters ever could.
It worries us that Bioshock’s release date is already so close, yet the AI is still questionable. Are you reading this Ken Levine?

Hey,
Bad AI means that I might actually be able to finish the game. I was never all that great an FPS player on my PC and I’m far worse on the 360.
Still, without a multiplayer aspect to the game, I guess some good AI may make the game more replayable for those who find the game too easy.

You’re not alone Klopzi. I would rate my FPS gaming skills for the PC in the bottom segment of the “average” demographic–people that usually get their behinds handed to them in deathmatches.
For consoles, I have no FPS skills whatsoever.
I’m not asking for Rapture citizens that flank and radio each other for complex military maneuvers. I would just like to see enemies that try not to take everything you throw at them and motionlessly wait for your bullet to enter their skulls. :P
Besides, even if the game were difficult, there’s always quicksave!
P.S.
I seem to recall that the AI in System Shock 2 wasn’t that great (I was just playing it this morning), but the game is very challenging. I need diapers when I play it.
