Bioshock no multiplayer
Title says it all. Kthx bye.
What? No? Alright. Community site “The Cult of Rapture” recently put up a quick Q&A that answers some general questions that have been floating about. Like whether or not they’ll use Steam to distribute the game. Stuff like that. But most importantly is the no multiplayer announcement.
Having a multiplayer component would have compromised the story we were trying to tell so we made the decision to keep this game as a single player experience. There will be an online component, however, where new content can be downloaded.
No idea what kind of online component there could be or what content you’d get. Seems like it’d be a pretty straightforward game with the only new extras being things like plasmids or new sections of the city perhaps? I dunno. And I’m sure I’ll stop caring as soon as I’m done with this post.
Now, not having a multiplayer doesn’t really bother me much. While I think it could be fun with people running around a broken, derelict city shooting off their plasmids and other weapons at one another, I’m not really heartbroken over the matter. What I am slightly irked at is the choice to not include a demo.
No playable demo is planned at this time, as the team is focused on the actual game. Things could change, however.
I know. It says not planned at this time and could change. Meaning it more than likely will. But in all honesty it cannot be that hard to make a demo. I’m sure it’d take some extra work and what not but it’s not like you’re completely re-writing the game. A lot of people use demos to decide whether or not to purchase the full game. Many places are not letting you get refunds after having bought a game and $50-$60 is a decent chunk of money to just frivolously toss on a game that you find out sucks. True there are reviews, but just because some blogmonkey likes the game doesn’t mean you will. That being said I’d be surprised if they didn’t make a demo for the game but the fact that they’re considering to not do so seems a little silly on their part.
Oh well. Still looking forward to it.
