More Halo 3

by Matt on December 18th, 2006

Today we’ve got an interview from ComputerandVideoGames on a most anticipated game, Halo 3. While not the longest interview they do ask some pertinent questions about weapons, vehicles, maps and multiplayer. It’s an interesting look at why things change as developers see the game being played a certain way and they respond to that.

Details about the game are slow in coming as they try to build hype and interest only talking about little things here and there. And while that is nice so there aren’t any huge spoilers for the game it seems to be slightly counter-intuitive. If you don’t know anything about a game why would you run out and buy it? Halo 3 is a bit different as it’s a sequel and a half, so Bungie already has one game and a half to build hype off of. Which lets them remain a little extra secretive about their development. I think it’s more frustrating for gamers than anything. We want to see screenshots, we want to know what the game holds, yet at the same time we want it to be fresh and new when we play it.

The joys of picking up a new gun and seeing it in action for the first time far outweigh having read a 10 page post about it and expecting to pick it up on level 3 in the corner by the tree. Little mystery never hurt anyone. It’s a fine line to walk giving out info and keeping some saved so the game isn’t completely spoiled. I think Bungie is doin an okay job walking it.
