So an overdue happy Thanksgiving to readers who celebrate it. I hope your time with family and loved ones was not unnecessarily painful.
On to the various FPS tidbits, I’ve mentioned Rogue Warrior before, you know, the game with a real life ex-SEAL behind it. It’s being developed by Zombie studios (but oddly enough it’s not a zombie game) and the guys over at Worthplaying got a nice interview with “Bethesda PR guru Pete Hines”. Rogue Warrior is designed to be a tactical shooter so your standard run and gun strategy apparently won’t work as well. Like last time, the 4 player co-op has me the most intrigued. Sneaking around the jungle taking out enemies with stealth and what not with 3 of your buddies seems like it could be a damn good time. We also get a better idea of the tiling system they use to generate their multiplayer maps. Quite the unique idea and I think it’ll make for some great matches.
Each map is made up of three tiles. The center tile is chosen by the game, and then each team gets to vote on its own tile. Tiles offer a variety of environments…some better suited for snipers, or for close combat, or with a bit of both. After each team votes on what tile they want to defend, all three tiles are revealed to everyone before the game starts. The tiles blend together seamlessly in the game regardless of the configuration, and what you get is a huge number of possible maps and not so much of the same six or eight every single time where you always know where everyone is going to run or what you have to attack.
So head on over and have a read.
Secondly, HEXUS TV has a couple of video interviews with the boys on the Crysis team, one is 20 minutes long the other is just a tad shorter. For everyone interested in the new shooter I think you may want to have a look.
