CellFactor: Revolution
So most of us know about this game that was designed to show off the new PhysX Card from Ageia. The showcase was successful enough to warrant them making a full game out of it. Well 1up has an interview discussing just what kind of game is emerging from all of this.
From the read it’s seems they’re focusing more on the Multiplayer portion, like Tribes or UT, and really making that a solid experience. Jeremy Stieglitz, president and lead developer, talks about how most FPS games are a balance of “my gun is bigger than your gun” and how they’re changing that in Cell Factor: Revolution. They’re focusing more on the pyschic moving tons of stuff around combat and the kind of gameplay changes that come along with that. There’s even talk of mini “sports” game modes because people love to goof off and what better way than to devote a mini game entirely to playing with moving stuff around. I know there’s been more than one occasion where I’ve just screwed around in a game playing with a unique feature. So that’s a good move on their part and it really shows that they’re playing the game and having fun with it rather than just pushing a product or a new sequel.
I’m still not sold on the PhysX card stuff, but Cell Factor looks like it could be a fun cheap, pick-up game.
