Zombie Master
Every once in a while I come across some news about a game that seems like it’d be a ton of fun to play. Zombie Master is one of those. Boys over at Evil Avatar managed to score an interview with the makers of the HL2 mod. They talk back and forth about the development of the game, about the game itself, and even about the modding community. Good stuff. It’s a little long winded, but the tidbits about ZM sound really good and this is definitely something I’d love to try out here at work during our “team-building” days. To summarize about the game:
“The game is divided into rounds. At the beginning of a round, a player is picked to be the “Zombie Master”. The rest become humans.”
“The Zombie Master becomes an RTS-style camera, and floats above the world. The rest are survivors, they play as an FPS.”
“As for the game goals - they vary according to the map. One current map has the humans foraging for parts to repair a truck. Another has them trying to escape a zombie-infested city, another has them just having to survive for 20 minutes…”
“You could say the goal for the ZM player is to prevent the humans from completing their objective, generally by killing them all.”
As you can tell from the read it’s an FPS/RTS hybrid. Zombie Masters get resources to build different types of zombies and to set traps for the humans. So it boils down to you having human controlled zombies (to an extent) which could lead to some very frantic and scary gameplay as the ZM sets up ambushes and has the zombies flank you and what not. Sounds like a blast. I can’t wait for it.
