Huxley will have in-game ads
The news about Webzen signing up with in-game advertisers has been floating around a bit lately, and Evil Avatar got wind of a press release from Webzen confirming as much, but this time for Huxley.
Bleh.
Yeah. Huxley’s gonna have in-game ads. Whether or not these will be dynamic ads that are changed periodically from time to time as you play or just name-brand placement remains to be seen. I’m hoping for the latter. I’d rather not have a piece of software tied to the game that downloads new ads and reports back how many times I saw the ad, or how many times I took a pee while playing or the fact that I spent an hour flying to Silithus only to have left the item I needed in my vault. Grr. No wonder I prefer shooting things.
Part of me wants to still buy the game to try it out and see how bad it is. But another part of me is saying to wait for other people to pick it up. Let them find out what the deal is, let them have the adware installed and let their systems lock up with ads and other varying 3rd party hidden programs.
I think my second half is providing a more convincing argument.
