No CoD III for the PC

by Matt on May 8th, 2006

Hooray!!

I mean.
No.
Bad.
Awful.

According to IGN the next Call of Duty game is going to be on a next-gen console only. While they don’t say it flat out, you can infer it from the article. Which is what IGN did. They took Activision’s quote

“Through the eyes of four Allied soldiers, Call of Duty 3 brings players closer to the fury of combat as they fight through the Normandy Breakout, the harrowing offensive that liberated Paris and changed the fate of the world. Developed by Treyarch, Call of Duty 3 is the follow up to the #1 next-generation game and is scheduled for a 2006 release.”

And from that, along with a list of Sony, MS and Nintendo credits at the end believe it’s gonna be giving the consoles it’s love now. While I don’t care, as we’ve had way too many WWII shooters lately, some people who are fans of the CoD series may be slighted to hear they can’t play it on the PC anymore.

But I think Activision would be a bit silly to forsake their players and I wonder if they’ll make a PC port at a later time. Ports are generally not very good, especially from console to PC, but I can’t see Activision totally missing out on some cash there.

So I figure we can count this as a half rumor. More than likely CoD III will come out for the consoles first. That seems like a good given. Not at all for the PC?? Eh. Give it some time. I’m sure you’ll see a box for it in the PC games section soon after.
